Clarinet Overhauls and Repair Services

True Tone Wind Shop provides professional repair and maintenance services for flutes and clarinets. We service student, intermediate, and professional models, offering routine adjustments, cleanings, and complete mechanical overhauls to ensure proper response and regulation. All work is performed to exact technical specifications.


Clean, Oil, and Adjust (COA)

Recommended annually to keep your instrument in peak playing condition.

  • Full disassembly and cleaning of the body.

  • Replacement of minor adjustment materials (corks/felts).

  • Precision oiling of the mechanism.

  • Complete regulation of the keywork for a light, even touch.

Clarinet Mechanical Overhaul

1. The instrument is play tested and checked for all mechanical and structural work that will be required. The client will be contacted if the required work exceeds the authorized limit, and the charges will be discussed.

2. The instrument is disassembled and all pads and corks are removed and thrown away.

3. The instrument is thoroughly cleaned and tenon corks are replaced and fitted.

4. The keys are thoroughly buffed and cleaned.

5. New pads and corks are installed

6. All new pads are seated to the tone holes and key heights are regulated.

7. The keys are oiled and assembled.

9. The instrument is play tested.

10. The instrument case is cleaned and the instrument is placed neatly in its case.

Exclusions: The removal of scratches and nicks is done only at the client’s request, and is charged by the hour.

We welcome clients from across the country. To send your instrument to our shop:

  1. Pack with Care: Ensure your case is secure within a sturdy, well-padded shipping box.

  2. Insurance: We recommend shipping with full insurance coverage.

Note: All prices are estimates. A final, firm quote will be provided after a physical evaluation of the instrument.

Please let us know when your instrument was last serviced and how often it is currently played. If the project is a good fit, we will contact you with next steps and a shipping label. Once your instrument arrives, we’ll notify you immediately and complete a thorough evaluation. We will always discuss our recommendations, pricing and get your approval before beginning any service.

Expect your instrument to be with us for two weeks if receiving a COA and 4 weeks if receiving an overhaul.
